I drew huge volumes of stuff that won’t make it into the actual Glorkian Warrior game, like these cool Jump Shoes. But maybe we can add them in an update. It would be kinda hilarious to add the shoes as IAP.
My friend Brandon Boyer is having a fund raiser to pay his cancer treatment bills. You can read the ridiculous story about how his insurance screwed him over HERE.
But there’s another fun way to support him… if you buy this bundle of videogames and movies, some of the money will go to help him (you can actually set how much money goes to him & the other charity and how much goes to the game developers, film makers, etc). And if you pledge at the $10 level or above then one of the movies is MARS… the awesome animated feature film in which I make my (rotoscoped) acting debut!
About 10 years ago, at a live art show, after a comic show in Texas, James Kochalka came in and did 2 quick paintings. He drew the experience in his entry for American Elf that day and included the first painting of some Pac-Man ghost stacked on top of each other. I bought the second one of his Penny Monster character. It hung in my apartment until I got married and we moved into a house. I’m so happy that it’s finally found a new spot to hang in our kids’ playroom, both of whom are big fans of James’s Johnny Boo.
This character is from the bed time stories I told Eli when he was little. He’s the frenemy of Yellow Bear. I made a small self-published book of Yellow Bear that very few people have seen. I think I printed about a hundred of them, maybe less. Oh, and he’s on the t-shirts that the late Joe Manley had printed up for me.
Well, onward and forward! The Glorkian Warrior is up next!
Me, Governor Shumlin, and Ed Koren. One week ago, my reign as Cartoonist Laureate of Vermont ended, and Ed Koren’s began.
I had a good run, it was fun. And it felt great to hand the position off to Ed. He’s a freakin’ cartooning MASTER.
But as we were posing for these pictures, the Governor leaned over to me and said, “You know, you’ll be our laureate FOREVER”. Which was a sweet thing to say, I thought. And he’s right… the honor doesn’t end just because I’m no longer the current laureate.
The first cartoonist laureate of Vermont, I shall forever be. I’m like the state flower.
Oliver and I did this Glorkian Warrior drawing together. Well, all I drew was Glork’s head.
Game coming soon to the apple app store! How soon? Real soon.
This amazing photo is a mash-up of three faces, my friends in the band SWALE. Two of them are also in my own band, James Kochalka Superstar.
Anyhoo… Swale has a new album coming out soon… and they’re running a kickstarter drive. Please go check ‘em out, they’re amazingly talented.
Today, after about four years of work, we submitted our Glorkian Warrior iOS game to Apple. It’s a big day. So, I did this quick sketch of Glorkian Warrior blasting an apple to commemorate the event.
An inspirational saying, from the Glorkian Warrior.
A stern warning from the Glorkian Warrior!
Congratulations to Ed Koren who today became the new Cartoonist Laureate of Vermont. I enjoyed my run, but was very happy to pass the pen to Ed. He’s a master!
