The last 10 days of NOT drawing American Elf has felt like an eternity to me.  How do I know how much time is going by if I don’t draw the strip?
And, hey… thanks for liking SuperF*ckers too!

My hands were trembling as I drew this.
It would be impossible to say in words how much American Elf means to me. It’s been my favorite webcomic for the last few years, but really it’s more than that - it’s been a window into another man’s life and soul. And now, with the end of its run, that window is closed. And it’s time for that soul to have some privacy, I suppose!
I told Julia about American Elf on our first date, during a conversation about comics. Last week, we reenacted our first date at the same restaurant and found ourselves talking about it again. She’s already done her tribute, and I guess it gives this one some context.
Anyway, I love American Elf and it’ll take some time to get used to its absence. James Kochalka, I don’t know if you’ll ever read this, but you absolutely deserve to be finished. Congratulations.
P.S. Superf*ckers is awesome.
