Red ring of death.
I pulled out the old original xbox and set it up so my son Eli (almost 10 years old) could play HALO.  He played one level, stunned that I would allow him to play a rated M game (but really Halo is quite tame, in my opinion)… then we left for vacation to Monhegan Island in Maine.  Climbing all over the majestic cliffs, there was only one thing he could think about.  Getting home and playing more HALO.
Then we came home.  The next day he played through most of level 2, and then… the Red Ring of Death.  Total system failure.
He’s quite depressed.

Here’s a painting I did this week en plein air while on Monhegan Island in Maine.

Ducks on Monhegan Island.
The more you look at this picture the stranger it is. Nothing special about the content, but just the quality of the photo itself is bizarre… the way the 3 ducks blend and morph with the rocks on the beach.  Sometimes I wonder if anything in the universe is real.

A polaroid I took while on Monhegan Island in Maine.  I was trying to capture the stripes of color that I saw, knowing that the quirkiness of the Impossible Project polaroid film would mean that the photo would differ greatly from what I actually saw in front of me.  But that’s true with any photo, really, isn’t it?

My painting of Monhegan Island, and my comic about painting it.

Duck Embarrassed.
This references the Duck Fighter comic from the American Elf strip of August 13, 2009.  There are probably others as well.
