The little girl who lives across the street has her own punk band, called Butterfly Starpower. Their first album just came out! She wrote a song about my son Eli. The lyrics go something like: “My boyfriend Eli, He’s as cool as a Jedi, He likes to play with me and draw cartoons”.
This Sunday, Eli’s band KaBoom Boom is playing a show with Butterfly Starpower at Radio Bean in Burlington, VT at 4:00 in the afternoon. Rock time!

The title page of a new Fungus comic I’m working on… EMAIL. (It’s currently being serialized in the newspaper Seven Days).
The guy I wrote about in this old episode of American Elf wrote a story about what it meant to him to appear in the strip. And to him I say… Thank you so much for being a part of my giant crazy project in your own small way. (Strip cut out from our local paper, Seven Days.)
American Elf Tribute by Alison Bechdel. This ran in the letters section our local paper, Seven Days, after I brought my long running diary comic strip to an end. I was very flattered… I love her work, too!

For the last decade my comic strip American Elf has run in my local weekly paper, Seven Days. I drew it as a daily, and picked three strips each week to use in the newspaper. Now of course, American Elf has ended. I quit drawing it on December 31 but the last strip appeared in the paper this week, actually. If the strip meant something to you over the years, why not write a letter to editor, expressing yourself! Thanks.

I’m told I have a small cameo in this movie, Cartoon College. It will play in my town, Burlington, VT, if enough people pre-order tickets.
American Elf 2001 is now available as an ibook on the iTunes store or through comixology.
The cover references an event that took place on September 22, 2001, when my band played an illegal rooftop concert in downtown Burlington, VT. Because, after the September 11 attacks… we just had to fuckin ROCK or the terrorists would win.
